Our Youth Animal Welfare Ambassadors program has transformed communities across Uganda and Kenya, reaching over 12,000 young people through school-based clubs, mentorship programs, and hands-on learning experiences.

In the field, students learn responsible animal care, first aid for livestock and companion animals, and how to identify and report animal welfare concerns. Club members have initiated community campaigns to stop dog culling, improve poultry housing conditions, and organize vaccination drives for stray animals.

"Before joining the club, I never thought about how animals feel. Now I teach my neighbors to treat their cows with respect. We've seen fewer sick animals in our village."

— Grace, 15, Uganda

AWeCCA provides comprehensive training materials, veterinary guest speakers, small grants for club-led projects, and an annual youth summit where ambassadors share their successes. The result has been a measurable shift in attitudes toward animals and a significant reduction in neglect cases reported to local authorities.

Our field officers visit each club monthly, offering guidance and monitoring progress. The program has also created a ripple effect—parents report that their children are teaching them better animal care practices at home.

AWeCCA aims to scale this initiative to 500 schools across East Africa by 2028, creating a youth-led animal welfare movement that will shape the next generation of compassionate leaders.
