Makerere University, in partnership with AWeCCA, is pleased to announce a full tuition scholarship for outstanding East African students pursuing a Master's degree in veterinary medicine, animal health, or related fields at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Resources (COVAB).
The scholarship covers full tuition fees for the duration of the program (2 years) and provides access to state-of-the-art research facilities, mentorship from leading academics in the field, and networking opportunities within AWeCCA's extensive partner network across Africa.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must be citizens of an East African country (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, or Ethiopia), hold a Bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine, animal health, or a closely related field with a minimum of second-class upper division or equivalent, and demonstrate a clear commitment to improving animal welfare in their home community.
How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit the following documents through the AWeCCA opportunities portal: academic transcripts and certificates, a current curriculum vitae, a personal statement (maximum 1,000 words) explaining your passion for animal welfare and career goals, and two recommendation letters from academic or professional referees.
Application Deadline: November 30, 2026. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a virtual interview by December 15, 2026. Successful applicants will be notified by December 31, 2026, with studies commencing in January 2027.
