AWeCCA's entrepreneurship program has launched 52 animal health enterprises across Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania — from community veterinary pharmacies and mobile clinic services to eco-friendly feed production and AI artificial insemination businesses.
Each entrepreneur receives comprehensive training in business management, technical animal health skills, and customer service, followed by mentorship and startup grants. The program specifically targets women and youth, who have traditionally faced barriers to entering the animal health sector.

The impact has been transformative. These 52 enterprises now serve an estimated 50,000 livestock owners who previously had no access to affordable animal health services within reasonable distance. Vaccination rates in program areas have increased by 60%, and reported disease outbreaks have dropped by 35%.
Beyond animal health outcomes, the program has created over 200 dignified jobs, with 65% of positions held by women. Many enterprises have expanded beyond their original scope — some now offer training to other aspiring entrepreneurs, creating a multiplier effect.
AWeCCA's incubator model includes ongoing technical support, peer learning networks, and connections to microfinance institutions for growth capital. We've also helped enterprises access digital tools for inventory management, client records, and mobile payments.
By 2028, AWeCCA aims to support 500 animal welfare entrepreneurs across Africa, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem of care that reaches every community. The ultimate goal: ensure that no livestock owner is more than 10 kilometers from affordable, quality animal health services.
Applications for the next cohort open quarterly. Graduates of our program join a lifelong alumni network that shares knowledge, resources, and opportunities across the continent.
